I awakened from a near-death experience to a new world. I know why this had happened and I knew my life purpose, but I didn’t know how to fulfill it. I tried to explain to the doctor, to the priest, to someone who would listen. It took seven years to find that person; she became my first spiritual teacher. She said, “If you know what you are to do, let’s get started.” The years between were lonely and challenging. I had a head full of concepts—I know, but I had no vocabulary with which to express these things. I was only 23, with a house-full of young children, and a difficult marriage. Now, I was a stranger in a strange land. Eventually I found a way of sitting quietly and connecting to that inner love that comforted and loved me, and in time began to communicate with me. I was taught from within how to cope with many things, but loneliness was the nature of my life. As my inner life developed, I was blessed with three teachers. Each gave me precious gifts. Each encouraged me to share my inner experiences. I had help integrating my knowing into established esoteric awareness. I could see my part in the plan more clearly. I knew no word for what came to be called “walk-ins”; now I use the term “soul exchange.” When Ruth Montgomery described the happening in Stranger Among Us, I could not believe others had had this experience—I certainly had never told anyone. I just knew myself as a “messenger.” Later, she contacted me as she assembled stories for Threshold to Tomorrow. I was quite hesitant, not knowing what might happen if she told my story. I just moved from Florida to a little town, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to which my inner teacher had guided me. I was grieving over leaving Florida where I believed I had the perfect life. I had started an esoteric school in 1978; it was truly beginning to bloom in ’81 when the vision came to go to Oklahoma. I knew it was the correct thing to do, and I was blessed when my husband, a dear friend, and several others chose to go with me. Together we founded Sparrow Hawk Village. Now Sancta Sophia Seminary is a fine accredited esoteric school with endorsed ordinations and degree programs. Wonderful graduates are in place doing their work in both the Village and across the country. We have international connections, a publishing company, and great aspirations. We know we are guided by Holy Ones, and we have learned to rise to challenging occasions. We invite those who desire to live in spiritual community or to become world servers to join us for a while or for a lifetime. Today, I have a great sense of fulfillment. I have done a large part of what I came to do. Humanity has arrived at the doorway to a new era. |
